ESG-DFF to share red carpet honours

Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) will now have to share their responsibility of holding red carpet with the Directorate of Film Festival (DFF) from this year onwards.
The red carpet for the filmmakers and their crew was handled by ESG last year which saw several goof ups in public.
Renowned Goan filmmaker Laxmikant Shetgaonkar had to skip the red carpet after the ESG officials failed to invite him.
DFF, a co-host for the festival, will now be sharing the responsibility of hosting dignitaries on the red carpet to avoid repeat confusions.
ESG members said that a joint committee of DFF and ESG will be formed in the run up to the festival.
In today’s meeting of organising committee chaired by Rajana Salgaoncar, the officials expressed their reservations over lethargy by DFF.
Sources stated that DFF officials are yet to arrive in the State to take over the preparations of the festival which will begin from November 23.
“The delay will result in coordination issues,” officials said adding that DFF officials were expected to arrive on October 25 and rooms for them at Circuit house Altinho are already reserved.
“Couple of officials have arrived here today and more are expected to descend this week,” ESG member said.
The organising committee also discussed the arrangements at Ravindra Bhavan in Margao, which will be added as a festival venue from this year onwards.
“Most of the movies screened in Panjim will be shown there. Ravindra Bhavan screen will be considered as a festival theatre,” sources stated.
