PANJIM: Former PWD Chief Engineer KR Shrikant has been roped in to conduct a study and map the water systems in North Goa as well as prepare feasibility reports for other projects. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said the Cabinet has given its nod for this.
Giving details of the scope of works, Parrikar said that apart from checking the revenue as well as water leakages, Shrikant will also act as a consultant for other projects.
“Improvement of working of water treatment plants, raw water availability, possibility of alternative sources, quality of power supply and its effects on production of clear water besides measures to overcome the same are some of the key areas the former engineer would work on,” he said. He said that the former PWD chief engineer would also work on conveying mains, water supply levels, leakages non-revenue water, and finding short term and long term solutions.
Shrikant has been appointed for six months at a salary of Rs 75,000 per month. The CM said the contract could be extended depending upon the need.
