MARGAO: The Raheja property at Carmona kicked up a row of sorts on Monday.
While former Sarpanchas J B Ferrao and Estaquio Da Costa told newsmen that construction work has started at the property site, anti-Raheja movement activist and deputy Sarpanch Orlando Da Silva have refuted the allegations as false and baseless.
Both Ferrao and Estaquio claimed that huge work force descended at the Raheja property on Monday morning to carry out construction work at the site.
However, Orlando firmly denied the allegations. He said preliminary reports revealed that the developer has engaged labourers to remove the pipeline laid in the property during the tenure of the previous body. “In their letter, Raheja’s have told us that they will remove the pipeline laid down in the property given the changing circumstances. Maybe, they have started removing the pipeline which was laid during the tenure of the previous body,” Orlando said.
He maintained that the present body is trying to undo the damage that was done by the previous body.
Meanwhile, Carmona Sarpanch Lavita Dias told Herald that neither she nor the panchayat has received any written complaint from any villager over the construction activity at the Raheja property.
