PANJIM: Governor B V Wanchoo has given his assent to 20 bills passed by the State Legislative Assembly, most of them during the previous legislative assembly session in July-August of 2012, including the Goa Salaries and Allowance of Ministers (Amendment) Bill, 2012.
Since the bill has now become an act, chief minister will now draw salary and sumptuary allowance of Rs 45,000 from earlier Rs 23,000, deputy chief minister will draw Rs 39,000 from the earlier Rs 16,500, a minister will draw Rs 33,000 from the earlier Rs 15,000.
Legislators will now get a salary of Rs 10,000 from earlier Rs 5000 and daily allowance of Rs 2000 instead of earlier Rs 1000. Pension, car allowance, constituency allowance and MLA’s staff have also been increased under the Act.
The other bills assented to by the Governor are the Goa Nursing Council Bill, the Goa Human Resource Development Bill, the Goa Public Gambling Amendment Bill, the Goa Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat-Cancellation/Abolition and Regulation of Allotment of plots) Bill, the legislative assembly was informed on Monday.
The Goa Barge Tax (amendment) bill, 2012, the Goa Barge (Taxation on Goods) (Amendment) Bill, 2012, the Goa Motor Vehicles Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2012, the City of Panaji Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2012, the Goa Tax on Luxuries (Twelfth Amendment) Bill, 2012, the Goa Electricity Duty (Amendment) Bill, the Goa Shops and Establishments (Amendment) Bill, 2012, the Goa Salaries and Allowance of Ministers (Amendment) Bill, 2012 as well as other bills such as the Goa Appropriation bills Nos 2 and 3 have all become Acts with the governor’s assent.
