“Examinations for classes up to Class VIII stand cancelled and examinations for Class IX to XII, including Board exams, will be held as per schedule with the protocol of maintaining distance of one meter between the students to be followed strictly,” Education Director Vandana Rao said.

The circular has also enclosed the advisory by the ministry on social distancing to be followed till March 31 and reviewed thereafter.

The government, last week, announced closure of all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, cinema halls, boat cruises, casinos, gyms, swimming pools, and nightclubs/pubs as measures to contain the spread of coronavirus. Restaurants and malls have been allowed to continue operations. The strictures have come into effect from midnight of March 15 and will be in force until March 31, after which they will be reviewed.
