Excavated mud slides down the hill at Cortalim junction

VASCO: The mud excavated on the hill at Cortalim junction came down sliding due to heavy rainfall on Tuesday.
Following the mudslide, a road under the foot of the hill was blocked and traffic was diverted through another road.
As per the sources, Mormugao taluka received a good amount of rainfall in past two days. The severity of the rainfall was such that the upper side mud along with some heavy stones came down on the Cortalim junction stretch.
When contacted, Vasco Traffic PI Suraj Samant said that the incidence took place at around 7 in the evening. The upper side edge of the chopped mountain due to heavy rainfall came down.
“I along with my staff who were at the Cortalim junction inspected the site and immediately blocked the road which is at the foot of the chopped mountain and diverted the traffic through the side road. This was done to avoid any untoward incident and for safety of the commuters,” he said.
