PANJIM: The 8th edition of the Goa Property Expo was inaugurated by CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado at Clube Gaspar Dias on Saturday.
The first day received an overwhelming response from home seekers from the city and the surrounding areas who visited the 14 stalls and explored housing options at the two-day expo.
For Civilco, one of the realty firms participating in the expo, the market was challenging and this expo would help them meet their target audience and break new ground. Palacio’s Shamaine Coutinho felt that with the luxury market in a tight niche it was important that the expo would help them come face-to-face with prospective customers. The company is promoting its villa project at Pilerne, some of which will have its own pools. The response she said was very slow due the state of the market.
Milroc is promoting its project at Kadamba Plateau which has been quite popular with Goans and visitors from other parts of the country.
A visitor to the expo Stephen Varghese, who has moved to Goa from Delhi, said that the expo was a very good idea since it would help him get an idea of the kind of properties currently available in the State. Varghese a businessman, said that given the state of the economy he hoped to narrow down on a property after negotiating hard for an attractive rate.
The popularity of the expo can be gauged by the presence of a builder promoting a project in Ooty. The Golden Group’s Mustafa Issul Baig said that the project had enthused much interest amongst Goans with 12 customers already having booked their plots in the project. He said there were another 50 who had expressed their interest in investing.
Highland Construction is also present and promoting its project in Porvorim. The sales staff at the stall hoped to sell some more flats and expressed their confidence saying that given the crowds that would come over the next two days it would be certainly possible.
The expo opens at 10 am and will be on till 7.30 pm on Sunday. Given the crowds expected on a Sunday it would be prudent to be early rather than get stuck in the milling crowds.
