Factory gutted in fire at Ucassaim

MAPUSA: Pawaskar Industry owned by one Guruprasad Pawaskar gutted in fire at Ucassaim on Friday. The owner claimed a loss of approximately Rs 75 lakh.

According to Mapusa Fire Station, they received a call at 1.30 pm informing about the incident. Immediately, a team of Mapusa Fire Station headed by station-in-charge Bosco Ferrao rushed to the spot. However, by the time they could reach to the spot, the industry was already ablaze.

The team then took around four hours to completely douse the fire and used three fire tenders.

Machinery for grading, cutting, polishing, cupboards containing documents, electrical line, raw material of acrylic sheets, office cabin and roof sheets were gutted in fire.

Ferrao added they suspect a short circuit to have caused the fire but will be writing to the Electricity Department to ascertain the exact cause. 

Sources claimed that before the fire started, one of the workers had left the premise to have lunch. No casualty was reported. 

Besides Ferrao, team consisted of Dnyaneshwar Sawant, E Dias, Hitesh Parab, Gisish Gawas, Dattaraj Chari, Vishnu R Naik and Saish Khan.
