PONDA: Goa Dairy Chairman Rajesh Faldesai on Friday said that they will challenge before the High Court the decision of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) disqualifying elected board of directors and appointing administrators to run the affairs of the Dairy.
Expressing concern over future of Goa Dairy, Faldesai said that the RCS decision was most unfortunate and injustice on democratic set up. The decision was taken when Goa Dairy was fast returning back to its previous strong financial position.

Faldesai said that their demand to cross examine the complainant Ramesh Naik was not considered by the RCS. He feared that the fate of the Goa Dairy would be like Sanjivani Sugar Factory, which he added yet to restart its operations.
He said there are around 6000 farmers and 250 Goa Dairy employees whose livelihood depends on Goa Dairy and alleged that the RCS decision was only to pave way for the growth of Sumul milk into the State. The farmers would be forced to supply their milk to Sumul at lower rates and they will be at loss as they will not get deserved rates to their milk.
The Goa Dairy board was earlier dissolved in 2018 and administrator was appointed. During the tenure of the administrator, the Goa Dairy financially collapsed and sale of milk dropped drastically. The Dairy even failed to clear the bills of raw material purchased and cattle feed plant also stopped operations, Faldesai said.
