Fancy registration plate results in fine and detention of vehicle

The police initiated action after a viral image caught their attention of a youth riding a bike with Bad Boys 2425 as its registration number

Panjim: Sporting a defective registration number plate and without rear view mirrors landed a youth in trouble after the Traffic Police slapped a fine for the offense and detained his vehicle. The Traffic Department, taking quick cognizance of a viral image of a two-wheeler with fancy number plate and summoned the owner of the vehicle. The Activa scooter GA-07- Y-2425, registered in the name of Cumbarjua resident, was in fact being used by her son. “The rider of the vehicle along with the two-wheeler was brought to the Panjim Traffic Cell and the details were verified. The number plate displayed on the bike was ‘BAD BOYS 2425’. He was also found without required documents and thus issued challan under CR 51 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 for improper number plate, section 3 of MV Act for riding without possession of motor driving license, section 158 of MV Act for not carrying documents and CR 125 (2) of CMVR 1989 without rear view mirror,” Director General of Police Muktesh Chander told Herald. With no required documents in his possession, the Traffic Cell detained the two-wheeler until the papers were produced for further verification. Interestingly, the rider changed the registered number plate as per the MV Act.
