PONDA: Sugarcane farmers on Saturday demanded that Sanjivani Sugar Factory either bear the cost of cutting the sugarcane cultivated by them or pay them Rs 1000 per tonne for cutting sugarcane. The demand was made at a meeting of Sugarcane Farmers’ Association held at the Sanjivani Factory premises, on Saturday.

The farmers have also passed resolutions demanding subsidised sugarcane seedlings and timely payment for the sugarcane supplied, which should be directly credited into their bank accounts.
