PONDA: The meeting of Sugarcane Farmers Facilitation Committee on Wednesday deliberated on the steps needed to resume the sugar factory.
At the meeting held at Sanjivani Sugar Factory, it was unanimously agreed that keeping in mind the interests of the sugarcane growers, the sugar factory should resume operations.
The chairman Adv Narendra Sawaikar briefed the committee about the interactions with some of the stakeholders and experts and their suggestions.
It was informed that payment of compensation and the assistance by the government is in the process and would be disbursed by next month.
The gathering was told that in next few days, the committee would submit its interim report to the Government regarding immediate steps to resume factory operations.
MLA Prasad Gaonkar, former minister Ramesh Tawadkar, former MLA Vasudev Gaonkar, Sugarcane Growers’ Association president Rajendra Dessai, Harshad Prabhudesai, Prasad Velip, Datta Gad, Agriculture Director Neville Alphonso, former director Satish Tendulkar, Administrator Sanjiv Gadkar and others were present.
