In a tragic incident at Bambaraga Cross in Belagavi district, a devastating collision occurred between a car and a tipper late Wednesday night, resulting in the untimely deaths of a 12-year-old girl, Sameeksha Deyekar, and a 24-year-old man, Mohan Maruthi Belgaokar. The victims, who were relatives, were returning from a wedding ceremony when their car, carrying four occupants, collided with a tipper.
The collision was so intense that both vehicles caught fire, leaving the occupants with no chance of escape. The impact damaged the tipper’s diesel tank, leading to a rapid and uncontrollable blaze that engulfed both vehicles. Despite valiant efforts by locals and passersby, the occupants of the burning car, Mohan Maruthi Belgaokar and Sameeksha Deyekar, could not be rescued in time.
The tragic incident has left two other occupants, Mahesh Belgaokar and Sneha Belagundkar, with serious injuries. Promptly, emergency services and locals rushed to the scene, managing to rescue the injured individuals. They were swiftly taken to a private hospital for urgent medical treatment.
The Kakathi police have launched a thorough investigation into the collision. The driver of the tipper vehicle has surrendered to the police, and additional details regarding the ongoing investigation are awaited.
