Mapusa: Sameer Pednekar and Suresh Kumbhar, both residents of Khorlim were arrested by the police for attacking two Candolim residents with a knife at the Mapusa bus-stand.
Police stated that Brijesh Shirodkar and his aged father Chandrakant Shirodkar had come to Mapusa to drop their customers at around 4 pm when the accused blocked their route and refused to let them move.
The assailants picked up an argument with the victims and started abusing and assaulting Brijesh and Sameer then attacked him with a sharp knife causing injuries on his face and chest.
When Chandrakant came to his son’s rescue, he too was attacked with the knife by Sameer while Suresh flung him to the ground and as a result the elderly man sustained head injuries.
The police swung into action and arrested Sameer and Suresh under sections 341, 504, 307, 506(ii) IPC R/W 34 IPC.
