Fatorda cell phone theft accused remanded

MARGAO: The accused in the theft of a mobile phone, Santosh Kattimani, 32, arrested by Fatorda Police was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Margao who remanded him to seven days police custody.

The police arrested Kattimani for stealing a mobile phone from the dicky of the scooter parked near Fatorda stadium. The police officer associated with the investigation of the case said that he had committed a similar offence in Mapusa and Mapusa Police have been informed about it.

Based on the complaint lodged by a resident of Colmorod-Navelim, the police booked an offence under Section 379 of IPC against the alleged accused. Police said that a lady had come to the jogging track and parked her scooter near the stadium by keeping her mobile duly locked in the dicky which was stolen.

Police have recovered two mobile phones, one screwdriver-cum-tester, one wallet containing in it one ATM card, one pancard and one Aadhaar card from the alleged accused Kattimani.

Police revealed that during the investigation he was also interrogated in the Mapusa Police Station case which was reported on September 7, wherein cash of Rs 32,000 was stolen from the dicky of another scooter. 

“We have informed the Mapusa Police about his involvement in the case and the Mapusa police team is likely to visit Fatorda,” said the police.
