MARGAO: Local Councillor from the areas around Holy Spirit Church has assured of addressing all the apprehensions of expressed in the letter by the residents of the area.
Reacting to the news about conversion of land to commercial zone within the vicinity of the Holy Spirit Church, Fatorda, Councillor Glenn Andrade said that he had a meeting with the residents of the area and gave a patient hearing to understand the apprehensions of the citizens.
He said, “To say that I as a local councillor was not taken into confidence whilst making certain changes in the ODP is incorrect. As a councillor, I can assure the citizens that Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai is perhaps the only legislator in Goa who has utmost and keen interest in preservation of heritage in the State. Our MLA has always voiced this interest publicly too,” Andrade said.
On hearing the residents of the area, the Councillor assured them that their apprehensions would be addressed and necessary changes, if any, would definitely be incorporated after discussing the same with Sardesai. “Our motto is to take Fatorda Forward and we will not compromise on that. Our interest in preserving heritage is proved by extending the heritage zone to the Old Market area too, where Sardesai has also envisaged a Tinto Project that will restore the entire area to its past glory in keeping with the architectural aesthetics of the area,” the Councillor said.
“Since the Code of Conduct for the Parliamentary elections is in force, there is not much that an elected representative can do. However, I wish to assure the residents that the matter will be dealt with as soon as possible under the guidance of Sardesai,” he added.
