MARGAO: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Monday threatened to lodge a criminal complaint against the Director of Women and Child Welfare Department for not distributing cheques to the beneficiaries from Fatorda constituency when the department has cleared the same.
Alleging that the government is creating bogus beneficiaries in Fatorda constituency, he demanded to know how cheques of beneficiaries are lying at the residence of a BJP leader when they are supposed to be handed over to the beneficiaries.
“Apart from MLA Mauvin Godinho, no other opposition MLA was permitted to distribute the cheques as BJP workers handed over the cheques to the beneficiaries,” he said.
“In Fatorda, the department has cleared the cheques, but the same are yet to reach the beneficiaries. How can government cheques land in someone’s house. It is against all tenets of administration. This is the reason why I make the allegation that the government is creating bogus beneficiaries,” he alleged.
The Fatorda MLA further threatened to lodge a complaint with the Lokayukta, besides lodging a written complaint with the police.
