MARGAO: After refusing to put her signature on the RDA audit, South Goa Zilla Panchayat Chairperson Nelly Rodrigues, has finally signed the audit document in lieu of the government’s promise to allocate development funds for the Zilla Panchayat.
While RDA project Director, P K Velip confirmed that Nelly has signed the audit, giving relief to the RDA officials, Nelly told Herald that she has finally signed the audit report after the government promised development funds for the district panchayat body.
In fact, Nelly pointed that the government has already allocated Rs 2 crore development fund for the South Goa Zilla Panchayat, adding that the ZP will soon tender the works before the election code comes into force later this month.
“After I refused to sign the audit report, the Chief Minister had called me to find out the problem. I brought to his notice that the RDA is only seeking my signature on the audit report without giving any funds to the ZP towards development,” she said.
On the office premises for the ZP in the old Collectorate building, Nelly said the government had promised the space in the old building and hoped the government will honour the promise made by the former chief minister and present Defence Minister, Manohar Parrikar.
