PANJIM: After years of deliberation and discussions, the State government has finally set the ball rolling for constructing an international convention centre at Dona Paula.

The Public Private Partnership Cell of the Goa Government has invited the RFP for development of the project.
As per the advertisement issued by the government, the RFP will be on Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) basis.
The advertisement says that the State intends to promote Goa as the most preferred venue for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE).
“The Government of Goa (GoG) has envisaged to develop world class infrastructure in the State for not only hosting IFFl annually, but various other National & International MICE events,” the advertisement says.
It further says that the Mopa International Airport, which is also a flagship PPP Project of the State, is currently under development and is expected to further improve Goa’s direct connectivity to National and International cities.

New Goa Bhavan project dropped
After almost two years of closure for renovation works of the old building, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday said the project for the new Goa Bhavan in Mumbai has been dropped.
He said a fresh detailed project report (DPR) for the new Goa Bhavan, Mumbai will be prepared.
Sawant made this announcement after chairing the PPP committee meeting at the Secretariat. “Goa Bhavan project has been dropped due to technical issues and a fresh DPR will be prepared soon,” he said.
Sawant also said that the government will float RFQ for the coal block soon.
