FIR filed against Aires for dual citizenship

PANJIM: Old Goa Police have registered a case against activist advocate Aires Rodrigues for holding dual citizenship following a complaint from Colva Panch Calvert Gonsalves.

PANJIM: Old Goa Police have registered a case against activist advocate Aires Rodrigues for holding dual citizenship following a complaint from Colva Panch Calvert Gonsalves.
Old Goa Police said the FIR has been registered against Rodrigues for holding Portuguese nationality without surrendering Indian nationality. An officer said Rodrigues has also fraudulently used Indian documents and sworn false affidavits in courts in India.
The FIR copy mentions that Rodrigues, being a Portuguese national contested the CCP polls by forging and giving false information to the State Election Commission. 
A criminal complaint had been filed against Rodrigues for possessing Portuguese nationality with Goa Police on Thursday.
The complaint against Rodrigues alleged that the birth of Aires Antonio Miranda Rodrigues was registered in the Central Registry of Births, Marriage and Deaths of Lisbon, Portugal as Assento de Nascimento No.1260-A on 2nd November, 1987. 
It further alleged that Rodrigues has obtained various Portuguese citizen cards ie Bilhete de Identidade (Identity Card) and Cartao de Cidadao bearing No. 11183778 issued to him on November 10, 2010 and which was due to expire on the November 9, 2015.
Rodrigues has rubbished the allegations. He has appreciated that the FIR has been registered and said the truth will now be revealed.
