AGASAIM: A fire broke out at Agasaim on Monday night, close to the electric transformer near the market.
The fire broke out at around 10.30 pm and it spread across the dry palm leaves erected along the fence. Its cause was unknown, but the locals in the neighbourhood suspect that it could have resulted due to the burning of garbage dumped in the gutter along the roadside.
Timely intervention by social worker Simon Caiado helped the fire personnel from Old Goa to reach the spot and extinguish the flames.
The locals have demanded that a mini fire brigade be erected in the village to encounter such unexpected events in the future.
