Fire engulfed an electric panel at Bellavista Apartments Margao late Sunday night causing a scare amongst the residents.
Residents suspected a short circuit behind the fire and it later spread to blankets and cotton material stored underneath the electric panel.
Leading firemen of the Margao Fire Services, who participated in the fire fighting operations, said the fire might have occurred due to a suspected short circuit. He, however, failed to explain why the firemen came to the spot without basic equipments such as emergency lights.The fire personnel had no answer when newsmen asked why they (firemen) were not carrying the emergency lights and the light batteries.A resident staying in the building Terry Mazarello gave more details.
