Fire damages transformer cables

MARGAO, MARCH 10
Transformer cables were partially damaged as dry grass near the power unit caught fire at Madel-Margao.
The incident occurred at around 3.30 pm when a rusted plate holing an electric insulator and wires on the electricity pole gave way, causing a spark and big sound near the Mahanagar Transformer at Madel.
The dry grass caught fire due to the resultant spark. The fire was later put off by the local residence using sand.
Electricity linesmen later came at the site and carried out the repairs.
