PANJIM: The first direct flight from Manchester, UK, with 311 passengers on board arrived in Goa on Tuesday.
Tourism Department said in a statement on Wednesday that as per data available from Goa airport, 80 percent of the passengers availed of ETV facility.
The Department said that Thomas Cook Airlines will be operating six flights a week to Goa from London, three from Manchester and Gatwick. “Freedom Holidays Pvt Ltd, the authorised representative of Thomas Cook Airlines will be overseeing all the operational aspects at the Goa airport,” it added.
Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said the UK market is very important for the State. “We are delighted that the number of direct flights from London to Goa is increasing and each flight will bring around 325 passengers. The UK market is very important for us and we are also going to impress on this at the upcoming World Trade Mart 2016 in London,” Minister said.
On arrival, the passengers were given Goa Tourism souvenirs, flowers and welcomed with Goan music from a live brass band.
