MARGAO: The retail fish vendors from SGPDA retail market on Tuesday met SGPDA Member Secretary Ashok Kumar and also the TCP Minister over the filthy condition at the retail fish market.
The retailers tired of filth and dirt all over the market have demanded that the NGO in-charge Green Goa be requested to clear the waste from the retail market and surrounding areas.
The retailers have alleged that the NGO Green Goa is not maintaining the retail market and not cleaning the footpaths within the market.
The Member Secretary Ashok Kumar assured the retailers of doing the needful on their demands.
Meanwhile, the retailers also went and met TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai at his residence and demanded to completely halt the illegal retail sale in the wholesale fish market. They have alleged that police were not fully efficient in stopping the retail trade and hence TCP Minister said that from Wednesday MMC and police would see that no retail sale at wholesale fish market happens and is stopped completely.
The TCP minister has been on record that he and the local administration is not going to allow the methods of coming to market as a loader and becoming wholesalers there. The TCP Minister has decided to have a strict system to curb the unscrupulous practices and has assured to reach reasonably priced fresh fish to the platter of the Goans.
