PANJIM: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar on Wednesday said that five rail over-bridges will come up in South Goa, however NOC for one over-bridge is awaited from the South Western Railway (SWR).
“Work of five rail over-bridges will be taken up in South Goa. We have received NOCs for four over-bridges, while NOC for the one at Chandor is awaited from the SWR. Once we are in receipt of it, the work order will be issued,” he told the House in reply to MLA Clafasio Dias’ question.
He also assured the House that the work will be completed after 12 months from the date of issue of work order to the contractor. The total estimated costs of the rail over-bridges are Rs 500 crore of which 50 per cent is borne by the state government.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar called for a meeting with PWD Minister and local legislator on Thursday to discuss finalising alignment at Chandor.
Parrikar also stated that land acquisition is “not an easy thing” and if people agree, they can sell their land to the government for the purpose of rail over-bridge and agree to alignment after discussions.
