The low lying area near the chapel opposite the Holy Spirit Church was inundated with water, affecting vehicular traffic. The situation at the old station road was no different with the road inundated with water till late in the evening.
Sources said that Margao city witnessed continuous downpour since 5 pm, leaving many a motorist and office goer off guard and stranded for hours. The city was also hit by lightning and thunder, but the fire services said no untoward incident was reported during the wet spell.
The scenario was more less the same in the rest of the taluka as heavy showers hit the State leaving many motorists, especially two wheeler riders scampering for shelter in bus bays and shop fronts.
