PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will inaugurate the Food & Cultural Festival at the NIWS Grounds, Caranzalem, Panjim on Friday. Envisaged as a grand celebration of Goa’s rich culture and heritage will end on February 12.
Designed to get people to ‘Come together’ for several days of music, dancing and other activities, this festival is expected to draw in tourists from the country and all over the world. Goa Tourism has left no stone unturned to take the 2013 Carnival experience to a heightened level of excitement and entertainment.
The festival will offer visitors the opportunity to experience cuisine and culture in a positive way, through a unique blend of food, fun, local and national live music performances, fashion shows, and entertainment.
Visitors can expect live music from national level performers like Anushka Manchanda, Parikrama, Farhan Akhtar, Parikrama, Agnee, Sonia Shirsat and Lorna spread across five days, as well as more than 70 stalls providing food, beverages and lifestyle products.
The festival will also feature a lineup of famous local bands. A Fashion Show by Wendell Rodricks is touted to be one of the main highlights.
An element of competition has also been introduced with the Magsons Chef de Goa Cooking Competition, which will be held on February 11.
The event management agency entrusted with the responsibilities for conducting the 5 day fiesta of fun, food and frolic is M/s Vinsan Graphics, an agency based in Goa with branches in Mumbai and Delhi.
Commenting on the Goa Carnival, Food & Cultural Festival, the spokesman for Goa Tourism said “We strongly urge people to join in the festivities and come out in large numbers to participate. We are reviving the yesteryears fervour of the Carnival with larger than life décor, mask installations and a Food and Cultural Festival, the biggest of its kind in Goa.”
Dy Chief Minister, Francis Dsouza will be the guest of honour, while Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar, Chairman of GTDC Nilesh Cabral & Nikhil U. Desai, Director and various celebrities and other eminent personalities will grace the opening.
