MARGAO: The Commercial Taxes office, Margao has issued notices to the stalls selling handicrafts, food and garments at ongoing exhibition at SGPDA ground.
According to a recent notification by the Department of Commercial Taxes, all stalls operated by firms registered outside Goa, have to display their GST number. However, many stalls, and food courts, have not displayed their GST number.
When asked as to when would the department take action, the official informed that during the month the department officers are on enforcement duty. “The exhibition will continue till November 6. We will be taking action accordingly”, the officials said.
Interestingly, none of the seven food stalls operating in the exhibition has an FDA licence. The stalls selling packed snacks and other food items have no labels as per FSSAI regulations.
