MARGAO: FORCE (Forum For Rights of Children’s Education) has submitted a memorandum with signatures of over 2 Iakh parents in support of Grants to English medium Schools. FORCE has called it absurd to have another advisory committee for MOI when the exercise has already been done earlier.
FORCE says the Government cannot ignore the demand of the majority of parent-student in the State.
FORCE further said it was their earnest plea to the government to heed to the voice of over 2,00,000 parents who have nothing but the Interest of their children in mind.
“The parents are clear that while they wish to have Konkani as the official language taught in our schools, the future lies in English Medium especially as Goa by itself has proved incapable of providing Jobs for its qualified citizens,” said FORCE in its memo.
“We object to the delaying tactics adopted by the Committee and the Government in giving a legislative sanctity to the Cabinet approval of July 1, 2014. We request the Government and the Director of Education to legislate and give a legal sanction to the Cabinet decision at the earliest and lay the matter to rest which has been pending for the last six years,” demanded FORCE.
FORCE has strongly pointed out that the matter/contents/deliberations discussions held during the advisory Committee meetings and informed/leaked to the press very clearly suggested that the meeting was held in a totally biased manner, and that the invitees to the meeting were so chosen so as to create an opinion contrary to their demand and contrary to the ground realities/facts as present in the State.
“We do not demand that English medium be made compulsory to all the schools but rather the Government should let the Parents choose the medium for their children with equal Grants and support medium schools so that the rich as well as the poor have equal opportunities,” FORCE said.
“The Bill was referred to the select committee as it was not in consonance with the Cabinet approval and it had been deliberated by the select Committee. We find it absurd to have the formation at the Advisory Committee to revisit the issue” FORCE said.
FORCE demanded that it looks up to the Government and expects it to take up and resolve the issue immediately by approving the July 2014 cabinet decision.
