ANJUNA: Vagator Anjuna Caisua Villagers Forum has demanded the demolition of an alleged illegal construction at Ozran, Vagator.
The forum informed that in June 2019, the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority had directed the demolition of a structure at Ozran Vagator after it was learnt that the said structure is unauthorised along with illegal hill cutting and hill slope filling. However, the concerned authorities failed to follow the direction of the GCZMA resulting in the owner continuing with the illegal construction.
It further claimed that directions were issued after it was learnt that the owner had carried out illegal construction of ground plus four structure for commercial business activity along with illegal temporary hut at the beach. Also an illegal underground tank (sump) with cement concrete and laterite stones as well steel girders anchored with concrete in the soil with cement blocks and tiled flooring was constructed.
The Forum alleged that the concerned owner had further constructed an illegal access road with steep incline by cutting and filling the soil and other debris by taking advantage of the COVID pandemic and further violated the Section 144 during the lockdown in CRZ and other areas.
It claimed that time and again, the concerned owners have cut trees and destroyed natural contours and geological terracing of the slope.
The locals alleged that the concerned authorities are hand-in-glove with the owner, who is a non-Goan due to which action has not been initiated.
