PANJIM: The foundation stone for the new building of the City of the Corporation of Panaji (CCP) was laid on Thursday by Union Urban Development Minister Milind Naik.
Panjim Mayor Rohit Monserrate informed media persons that the estimated cost of the project is approximately Rs 12 crore and that it should be completed in two years time.
CCP Commissioner Agnelo Fernandes said it will be an environment friendly ‘Green Building’ that will have solar panels and a Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) amongst other features.
The Mayor also explained that the first phase of the building will be taken up and after that phase wise offices from the old building will be shifted here. Thereafter, they will look at what happens to the old building, which has some functionality issues.
He also thanked the Chief Minister and UD Minister.
