Four cases of dengue in Ponda

Community Health Centre (CHC) Ponda has recorded four cases of dengue since May 15, the first such instance of dengue cases in and around Ponda town after a gap of two years.

PONDA: Community Health Centre (CHC) Ponda has recorded four cases of dengue since May 15, the first such instance of dengue cases in and around Ponda town after a gap of two years. 

According to information available at CHC Ponda, there were 10 suspected cases and four tested positive since mid-May. All four affected persons are locals and one of them included a former health officer of CHC Ponda.

“All the dengue patients were given symptomatic treatment and are fine now. We are taking all precautionary measures and we will urge residents to cooperate with us to prevent such diseases. People also need to be careful and should not allow water stagnation in open containers or empty bottles, etc,” said CHC Ponda Health Officer Dr Nutan Dev.

Health officials said precautionary measures like fogging, anti-larval spraying and house-to-house awareness programmes have been taken to prevent the outbreak of diseases in the taluka.
