PANJIM: The four-day session of the State Legislative Assembly will begin from Monday as Opposition is set to corner the government over the ongoing controversies such as the three linear projects.

The Winter Session of the Assembly will begin with the Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari delivering the opening remark. A total 751 of questions comprising of 195 starred and 556 unstarred will be tabled during the session which will conclude on Jan 29.
As a precautionary measure in view of COVID-19 scare, this session too will have no visitors to witness the proceedings.
The Opposition MLAs have placed questions on various controversial issues such as linear projects – double tracking, NH widening and Tanmar power transmission, Goa Municipalities (amendment) Ordinance 2020 – although withdrawn, Lokayukta amendment, withdrawal of House Building Allowance to government employees, management on COVID-19, deteriorating financial position of the State, unemployment among others.
A discussion on Motion of Thanks to Governor’s address will span across three days and the government will table six bills besides four private members bills. There are five private member resolutions, which will come up for discussion on Friday, January 29.
