MARGAO: In a major embarrassment for the Konkan railway authorities, a gangman and a track man of the Konkan Railway were amongst the four persons arrested by the Konkan railway police for allegedly trying to smuggle liquor from the Margao railway station.
Konkan Railway police station in-charge, PSI Dattaguru Sawant informed around 60 bottles of branded liquor were seized from the four persons, who were planning to transport the consignment to Chiplun by the 2.30 pm Janshatabdi Express.
He said the incident came to light when a police team comprising of constables Nilesh Kaskar and Ramanand Desai found the foursome moving suspiciously on the railway platform. When the police team conducted a search, they found to their surprise 60 bottles of branded liquor from a bag. While two of the arrested accused are employees of the KRC, the gangman and the track man, the third person is a sweeper, employed on contract with the Janshatabdi express.
Meanwhile, the bail application moved by the three employees of the Chiplun-based paint company, who were arrested in connection with the molestation of two Goan girls on the Janshatabdi express while returning home earlier this month, will come up for hearing on Friday.
