NAGUESHI: Four senior cyclists, aged between 61 and 77, participated in the renowned Nagueshi Sarvajanik Bhajani Saptah, which commenced on Tuesday, at Nagesh Maharudra temple, a first in the event’s history.
The cyclists – Dr Nirupama Bhave (77), a retired HOD Maths Department, Pune University; Arun Nevase (64), a retired agriculture officer, Maharashtra government; Dattatraya Potdar (61), a retired school teacher from Alibag and now residing in Pune; and Jayashri Jadhav (61), retired from PCMC, Chichwad, Pune- cycled over 475 kilometres in just three days, starting from Pune on August 16 and made first stop at Karad.

On August 17, they took the route to Malkapur and crossed Anushkara Ghat and arrived in Kharepatan in Konkan. At night they halted at Kanakavali on August 18. On the following day, they started early to reach Goa by evening.
Despite a minor incident involving a dog bite, they received medical attention and continued their journey, reaching Nagueshi by 7 pm.
Damodar Bhatkar, the President of Nagesh Sansthan welcomed and felicitated them, providing them with accommodation and tokens of appreciation.
The cyclists expressed their delight in participating in the Saptah and described their pleasant journey through Konkan’s natural landscapes.
They were presented with the photos of the deity.
Speaking to O Heraldo, Dr Nirupama Bhave said, “Our journey was very pleasant despite the weather being cloudy. We are happy to come here at Nagueshi, which is very serene and full of spiritual and religious vibes.”
Dattatraya Potdar, said, “The journey through Konkan was joyuous. We did not face any issues. Jayashri Jadhav was very excited to see the Saptah and all had come with full of energy. Arun Nevasem had visited Nageshi Saptah last year, in 2023. The atmosphere and loving nature of people made him to spread the experience and share it with fellow cyclists.”
The cyclists said that they will carry back happy memories of Goa, particularly Nagueshi.
