Verna Police arrested four college students on charges of stealing three laptops and three mobile phones from Birla Institute of Science and Technology (BITS), Zuarinagar-Sancoale.
Apparently, BITS is hosting its annual technical festival ‘Quark’, due to which students from across the country and Goa take part in the festival.
“The four students, Krishna Talwar, Murya Koli, Shrimant Halgi and Sharfraj Shaikh, had allegedly gained entry into BITS campus pretending to attend the festival,” said Verna Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi.
All the four students gained entry into hostel rooms of the students and decamped with 3 laptops and 3 mobile phones.
PI Dalvi along with PIS S Gawas rounded off the campus and frisked all the students and traced the stolen electronic items and three mobile phones from the foursome.
Police suspects that earlier too, some laptops had gone missing from the BITS campus and the foursome may be involved in that crime.
