PANJIM: Four turtles, three at Candolim Beach and one at Mobor Beach were rescued by Good Samaritans. At Candolim, Joe Lobo, a person named Anthony from Calangute and their friends noticed three turtles trapped in an abandoned net.
They immediately pulled the turtles to the beach area, cut open the nets with a knife borrowed from a nearby hotel, then freed the turtles from the net and after assessing their condition, released them into the sea. Similarly in Cavelossim, Roy Barretto and Jesus D’Costa noticed a turtle that was also stuck in abandoned net. They freed the turtle but when they tried to release the turtle into the sea, they discovered that the turtle was weak. They then contacted a lifeguard, who fed the turtle, who was later released into the sea.
