MAPUSA: Four trafficked victim girls were rescued, while three were arrested on Thursday night for running a sex trade at Anjuna.
Besides, three others were also arrested for being in a compromising position with the rescued victim girls.
The rescues and arrests were made in a raid conducted by Anjuna police between 8.30 pm to 10.15 pm at Gumal waddo in Anjuna.
According to the Anjuna police, the rescued girls were aged between 26 and 29; while one of them is from Madhya Pradesh, the rest are from Thane in Maharashtra.
The accused are identified as Shaish Karan (33) from Gangananagar in Rajasthan, Shainaz Kazoo (37) and Ujwala Kamble (36) both from Sangli in Maharashtra. They are arrested for trafficking the victim girls and supplying them to different male customers for sex.
According to the police, the accused were living on the earnings of the victims.
Those arrested for being in a compromising position with the victim girls are identified as Mani Vannan (25) of Porvorim, Amit Lamani (20) from Baga and Altaf Khatib (25) from Nerul.
Anjuna police have registered a case against the accused under Section 370 (A)(2) read with Section 34 of IPC and Sections 3, 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act.
Anjuna police are investigating the case under the supervision of PI Chetan Patil.
