The ‘Free Meal to accompanying in-patient relative’ programme was launched by the ‘WALL Foundation’ on Saturday.
Lauding the WALL Foundation for its initiative, D’Sousza said the service would benefit a large number of people from different parts of North Goa visiting the Mapusa District hospital.
“Many poor people have faced difficulties in getting meals at the hospital and in such situations, this service will be helpful to them,” D’Souza added.
The deputy chief minister then added that the State government could take pride in introducing social schemes such as Gruha Adhar Scheme, Dayanand Social Service Scheme, etc.
“These are unique schemes not available in other states and take care of the downtrodden people. Around 1.37 lakh people are beneficiaries of these social welfare schemes,” said D’Souza.
