PANJIM: Independence Day will be celebrated across the State on Monday, August 15.
The State-level celebrations will be held in front of the Old Secretariat, Panjim at 9.15 am wherein Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will unfurl the national flag to address the people. He will also lay wreaths at the Martyrs Memorial, Patradevi, Pernem.
The flag hoisting ceremony on Independence Day will also be held at various taluka headquarters at 9.15 am.
All the departments will also organise events to mark Independence Day celebrations from August 13 to 15 in line with ‘Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
The government will also felicitate the Martyrs of the Goa freedom struggle posthumously on the occasion.
The freedom fighters of Tiswadi taluka will be felicitated at the State-level function while the other freedom fighters will be felicitated at the respective taluka-level function. The Department of Information and Publicity would also release a booklet of all the Martyrs on the occasion.
