CANCONA: Frequent power outages have plagued Canacona taulka for the last several days much to the annoyance of locals.
As per sources, electricity is supplied to Canacona taluka from Xeldem to Cuncolim. Approximately, 33 thousand KV is supplied through this line. Whenever there is a problem or failure at Xeldem or Cuncolim power station, Canacona has to face the consequences.

Arjun Velip, a local from Vaijwada-Shristhal expressed his frustration about frequent power interruptions which last for four to fiver hours everyday. “It is difficult to survive without electricity in such scorching heat. For how many more days are we going to suffer like this,” questioned Velip.
Goa has already celebrated 60 years of liberation but the government has failed to provide basic facilities like electricity, water. The Congress party had recently met officials at the electricity department office but the problem still persists, said Surendra Naik.
As per electricity department sources, 60 percent work of the underground cabling has been completed. However, there is no improvement in the situation, say locals.
