MARGAO: The residents of Manora-Raia are grappling with a hazardous road situation that has become a source of daily distress. Despite repeated pleas and follow-ups with the authorities concerned, no action has been taken to repair the deteriorating stretch of road.

Locals say the road has turned into a potential “death trap,” with no visible signs of improvement even though promises of repairs have been made in the past.
One of the significant issues raised by the community is the installation of a large, unpainted speed breaker, which goes unnoticed by motorists, sending them flying over and increasing the risk of accidents.
Manuel Barbosa, a local resident, shared his frustration, mentioning that he has been pursuing the matter with authorities for months, but to no avail.
“The government’s lack of action shows a serious disregard for the safety of the residents and commuters,” said Barbosa.
Another resident, Anthony Fernandes, claimed that according to his sources, the authorities had already completed the processes and paperwork for the road repairs but had failed to execute them.
He questioned whether the authorities were waiting for a fatality before taking action. Fernandes specifically highlighted the stretch from Minister Alexio Sequeira’s residence to Kirbhat-Nuvem as particularly dangerous.
The residents are at their wit’s end, calling for immediate intervention to prevent further accidents and ensure the safety of all those who use the road daily.
Frustrated by the continued inaction from the authorities, the residents of Manora-Raia are now planning to take matters into their own hands. In a desperate bid to highlight the urgency of the situation and draw attention to the hazardous road conditions, they are contemplating blocking the road and halting traffic.
