Gadkari, local BJP-MGP leaders hold talks

PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may not make public its worries ahead of the 2017 Assembly elections but its closed door meetings to resolve certain issues makes it evident.

During his visit to Goa last week, Union minister Nitin Gadkari, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, and MGP leaders Sudin Dhavalikar and Deepak Dhavalikar reportedly met to ensure the alliance remains intact for the upcoming polls. “They don’t want to disturb the alliance,” a source close to the BJP said.
Gadkari had played a crucial role ensuring that the BJP and MGP contest the 2012 polls together and the BJP is looking at its RSS links to mend ties with the sangh. The party has been facing the heat from certain sections over its decision to continue giving grants to English medium primary schools.
“He (Gadkari) will work towards bringing the BJP and RSS closer and improve relations,” sources said.
