Rajendra Ajgaonkar of the Gandhi Market Association said, “Gandhi Market was closed on Monday as a mark of respect to the late Chief Minister. This, we feel, is a befitting tribute to him”.
The Jewellers Association of Margao too kept their shops closed on Monday as a mark of respect to Parrikar. “He was a true visionary, a great administrator and a jewel of the country” said Association chairman Pranit Naik.
Markets in suburban areas and towns such as Quepem and Curchorem too wore a deserted look as people from across the state flocked to Panjim to catch a last glimpse of the leader.
