VALPOI: Ganesh festival preparations kept the Valpoi voters busy impacting polling in the constituency, which was peaceful.
No rush of voters was seen in any of the polling booths in the constituency, till noon and the general mood among the people was very sombre. A substantial number of voters did not bother themselves with voting in the by-election.
Heavy rains in the evening further dampened the mood of voters, as fewer came out to vote in the evening.
Meanwhile, in Dhave village, the voting machine broke-down, but election officer replaced it quickly.
At Velus, unknown persons had burned the green net of voters’ assistance booth in ward one late night Tuesday.
Commenting on the polling, Returning Officer Pravin Parab said, “We have not received a single complaint from polling booths of Valpoi constituency and the by-poll was held peacefully.”
