Gangster causes fear in Vasco

VASCO: Tension prevailed at Mangor Hill-Vasco on Sunday evening, after a member of a gang from Mangor Hill chased a person with a knife/sword.

According to an eye witness, the incident occurred at about 7 pm when a member of a gang from Mangor chased a person with a knife/sword. “On reaching traffic island near the telephone exchange at Mangor, the person who was being chased grabbed the knife/sword from the gang member from Mangor and slapped him,” said the eye witness.
The eye witness said the member of the Mangor gang then tried to assault the person with a laterite stone, but the person defended himself and later kicked the Mangor gang member and allegedly tried to assault him with the knife/sword.
The eye witness further said a passer-by rushed and tried to diffuse the tension.
In the meantime, a youth form Khariwada reached the site on a motorcycle and whisked away the person towards Vasco.
The eye witness said when the leaders of the gang got the news, they rushed to Mangor junction near telephone exchange. Though the police reached the site, no one came forward to lodge a complaint.
Sources at Mangor Hill told Herald that since these gang leaders are getting political patronage, they are once again trying to raise their ugly head in Mangor and are trying to disturb peace in the locality.
When contacted, Vasco police said there was some commotion and they were informed that some persons were involved in a scuffle involving a knife/sword and since no one has come forward to file a complaint, they are investigating the case.
