PANJIM: The Goa Bachao Abhiyan (GBA) has called for a meeting on February 19 to take forward the issues of the stalled Regional Plan and the “disturbing rise” in mega projects in villages, even as the Regional Plan is yet to be corrected and implemented.
Group representatives from villages will make a presentation about the issues affecting the villages given that serious concerns have been raised about allocating public land resources to private corporate bodies, by depriving the local people of their livelihoods.
Public water bodies have also been appropriated to large monied interests from outside the State. Large scale exploitation of local resources has been taking place, by hoodwinking people, argues a press communiqué by GBA convenor Dr Sabina Martins.
