GCZMA to call Marriott, Goa Foundation for hearing on high tide line

PANJIM: Chennai-based agency National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) has submitted its report with regards to whether Hotel Marriot is within the No Development Zone (NDZ) and identifying the imaginary line parallel to High Tide Line (HTL), drawn from the existing light house  across the Hotel.  
Based on the report, Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has decided to issue show cause cum hearing notices to Hotel Marriot and the complainant Goa Foundation, by providing them copies of the report. 
“The NCSCM has submitted a report to this authority. The report has recorded observation interalia depicting violation of CRZ violation by Hotel Goa Marriott resort,” GCZMA noted at a recent meeting.
The High Court of Bombay at Goa, while rejecting the report submitted by GCZMA with regards to HTL and alleged illegal encroachment of the beach by the hotel, had in August, last year, directed to draft a new report within three months with support from NCSCM.
