the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) member secretary issued show cause notices to the 155 remaining structures (out of 205) and four other structures at Baina beach. The notice was issued under Section 5 of the Environment Protection Act 1986, read with Rule 4 of Environment Protection Rules 1986. However, it could not be served to residents on Friday as the date on the notice was incorrect.
As per the show cause notice, the occupants have to file their reply and submit the construction/reconstruction/repair license/approvals, if any, issued by the concerned authorities (including GCZMA) along with the approved plan, and also documents that show the title to the office of GCZMA on or before July 28.
“Incidentally, the notices that were supposed to be served urgently were not served because of a typing error. In the notice, GCZMA had directed the party to submit the documents on or before July 28, 2014 instead of 2015, and thus we have stopped the procedure of serving the notice,” said a source.
